About the Author
Jane Napier-Ramos
Some librarians secretly dream of becoming best-selling authors. Some just dabble a bit and hope to make folks smile. I'm a dabbler.
I've been writing stories, poems, and songs for as long as I can remember. My first was for our fourth grade graduation from JS Clark Elementary. I changed the words to "Red River Valley," showed a teacher, and the whole fourth grade class was forced to sing it in front of parents at the graduation celebration. "From this school you say we are going....you will miss our bright eyes and sweet smiles...for you say we are taking the sunshine that has brightened your pathway a while." Yeesh, it was awful. I was lucky enough to have parents that were the age of my friend's grandparents. They were in their early 40s when I showed up and used to tell stories about how they lived through WWII. They taught me all the old songs and ditties as well as poems and stories that have stayed with me for a lifetime. Combine that with some great friends in the neighborhood and I had an awesome Be-home-before-the-streetlights-come-on childhood that I wouldn't trade for the world. I was definitely blessed.

—— About
Jane grew up in Zwolle, Louisiana, but is currently living in the wilds of Vermont. She is a library director and pastor and lives with her husband, 2 of their four children, 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 lizards, and a handful of spiders. She also has a lovely relationship with a 28-foot snake, but that's a story for another day.
